The Dark Knight Rises Official Trailer

Just got back from watching The Dark Knight Rises prologue. Epic. I couldn't really understand what Bane was saying, and yeah, he sounded a little like Johann Kraus, but it was still crazy awesome. The Dark Knight Rises Official Trailer [HD]

Star Wars: The Old Republic Preview

Designed by a team of MMO-development veterans at BioWare’s Austin, Texas-based studio, The Old Republic attempts to cover a lot of ground. First and foremost, it plays out as a sequel to the two Knights of the Old Republic games, but by moving to the massive multiplayer genre, it’s also stretching to cover Star Wars Galaxies’ failure and fix many of the things that game’s developers did wrong – and with SWG’s closing, it seems fitting for BioWare to court the old Sony Online game’s playerbase. But even moreso, this game seems to be the best reason yet for players who are sick of World of Warcraft (but, presumably, not sick of MMORPGs) to finally ditch the seven-year-old standby and move over. The gameplay and combat start out very similar, that’s for sure, so players will quickly wonder just why they’re bothering, but I think there’s just enough new content (and fresh outlooks on how people have fun in MMOs) to make The Old Republic a hit, if not a massive one like Blizzard’s games have proven to be.

Garriott predicts demise of traditional consoles

Speaking with Industry Gamers, Garriott said he doesn’t see the age of the traditional console lasting much longer due to the rise of mobile and social games. “I think we might get one more generation, might, but I think fundamentally they’re doomed. I think fundamentally the power that you can carry with you in a portable is really swamping what we’ve thought of as a console,” said the Ultima creator.

Witcher 2 developer estimates game was pirated at least 4.5 million times

For every person who purchased a copy of The Witcher 2 legally, at least 4-5 downloaded a copy illegally, said developer CD Projekt. CEO Marcin Iwinski checked piracy websites after the game’s release, and while he agreed that it would have been impossible to get an exact number, he was still able to get a good idea by following the numbers that were available. “There are no stats available, but lets make a quick calculation. I was checking regularly the number of concurrent downloads on torrent aggregating sites, and for the first 6-8 weeks there was around 20-30k ppl downloading it at the same time,” he said.
